One word that best describes your style: Unique

1. What does a typical day in your life look like?

My morning routine consists of waking up early to make green juice with my husband for our families. After that, I normally do some reading in the bible or other books I may be going through for a couple hours or so, then I get to work on sketches, paintings or coming up with ideas for more pieces. I try and get as much hours as I can in during the day for painting before I have to starting thinking about cooking dinner!

2. Tell us one unique thing about you / your art

I like to express a lot of emotion in my art. When I am not painting, I am expressing my creativity through cooking. I love making cute bento boxes for my family.

3. What do you love most about being an artist?

I love experimenting! I also love the challenge of making my concept come to life on canvas. Exploring mixed media and trying out different things with the mediums I use is a lot of fun for me.

4. Which is your favourite artpiece so far and what is the story behind it?

Arise by Jennifer Hansen

"Arise" is one of my favorite works because it is one of the most personal. The series, "A song in the night" which was where that piece came from, was derived from a challenging time of struggling with insomnia and anxiety. This piece along with the series were works to express this chaos and a passage in the bible from Psalm 91 that became very dear to me. They were all done in the late hours of the night and were pieces that I could just "let myself go" in.

5. What are 3 things you can’t live without in a day?

Jesus, painting & food.

6. Where do you get inspiration when you need it most?

I read through books in the bible to draw inspiration for concepts. I also look at a lot of art online when I'm stuck or frustrated working on a particular piece.

7. What does success look like to you?

Success to me is having my concept clearly shine through my work, and to be able to share the gospel message of Christ with others. It is also rewarding when one is inspired, moved, or challenged by my work. I always enjoy hearing about these things!
