Hi, my name is Aisha Ramat and thank you for browsing.
Project Wonderwall is a label I use, specifically to show and document my art, as an artist.
Creating art has always been a significant part of my life ever since I could hold a pencil. I learned most of my art techniques when I went to the LCE school of art and design in 1998, Lasalle College of the Arts in 2004 and of course, teaching. I am one the founders, artist and teacher art at Arthaus Pte Ltd Singapore.
I work with wide range of mediums such as graphite, charcoal, watercolour, pen, acrylic, pastel, oil and mixed media. Currently, my favourite mediums to use are charcoal, pen, acrylic, oil and mixed media.
My style has evolved throughout the years; from more observational to the narrative, to experimental, to abstract, then to abstract realism which are influenced by travel, current events, life experiences and teaching experiences.
“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up”, Pablo Picasso
I believe that sometimes you have to unlearn the “unnecessary noise” in order to create art that is true to yourselves. And I believe in embracing change and creating art from the heart.
That is why sometimes I paint random things that I feel strongly about, at the spur of the moment and experiment with mediums and materials and discover things along the way that truly reflect what I see, feel and think.
I started some serial paintings such as Samudera series to portray my love for the sea, experimental watercolour/ acrylic series aims to combine play and control and my current "Contemplation series". The series started when I was in awe of the colours and reflections of light on crushed foil. Eventually evolved to more experimental and conceptual approach. To whisper out the essence of textures, depth and light from daily objects we take for granted.
