Art to me is a spiritual practice, through the conscious act of creating I learn to surrender to a process greater than myself and loosen my need for control. Painting allows a sense of spontaneity, curiosity, playfulness and wonder that opens up my imaginations to new possibilities. It is a constant process of unfolding and discovering. It not only creates a meditative space in which I am fully present but is also revitalizing.
My artwork reflects my love for nature and mysticism, the inextricable link between the visible and invisible worlds. All of the earth is an intricate system working in harmony and balance. When one part goes out of balance everything is affected. That is why I am inspired to paint fairies, angels, mermaids and other elementals as they help us to keep the balance of nature. This gratitude for the wonder of nature has gradually extended to painting of landscapes from my travels. Working with water-colour gives me the versatility of a wide range of creative expressions, both the predictable and unpredictable.
The painting of Bodhisattvas on the other hand is inspired by visions during meditation, dreams or my affinity with them. In Tibetan Buddhism, a Bodhisattva is anyone who is motivated by compassion and seeks enlightenment not only for him/herself but also for every other sentient being, both seen and unseen. This is what I wish to evoke in myself and anyone who comes across my paintings.
