United States of America
Heralded as a leader in the genre of contemporary realism, Laurie Regan Chase
paints both oil on canvas and watercolor of the countryside and coastline communities that she has visited in her travels throughout Europe, including the Mediterranean, Aegean, Adriatic, and the Black Seas. Through skilled brushwork and use of the palette knife she creates a three dimensional quality to her realistic images on land and on the sea.
Her commissioned paintings of privately owned homes, villas, Burgundy, FR, the California wine country, and classic antique wooden boats and yachts, have a wide-spread notoriety throughout the realm of contemporary fine art enthusiasts.
She is an award-winning signature member of the American Society of Marine Artists, and is in many permanent collections throughout the Americas. She has become known for her contrast of sun and shadows, and with seascapes, her lifelike interpretation of reflections, so realistic one can actually feel the light, the heat and the motion of the water.
Chase was born in Chicago where she gained a love of water through sailboat racing on Lake Michigan. Her formal education began at the Art Institute of Chicago, and continued later at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism. After moving to San Francisco in 1976, Chase concentrated on painting scenes along the picturesque California coast and inland landscapes. In subsequent years, she has gone on to find similar inspiration for her scenic portraits during her private travels throughout Europe, the Mediterranean, Aegean and Black Seas as well as the southeastern coast of the United States, Hawaii, Mexico, South America, and the Caribbean.
She has dome signature paintings for the Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, Princess Cruise Line properties, to name a few. She currently is a signature painter for Domaines in Burgundy, FR, with solo exhibitions twice a year In Puligny-Montrachet.
