Naomi Haeger
United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
Naomi is currently studying Design at Goldsmiths University, London.
The majority of Naomi's work is based around portraiture where she has been inspired by artists such as Harding Meyer, Andrew Salgado, Lucien Freud etc. Currently, Naomi is working on a new series exploring feminine identity with the title:
"An investigation into the use and application of different mediums and painting processes which affect the perception of the fragility of feminine identity." She has based her research mainly on artists Yolanda Dorda, Ryan Hewett and Simon Birch. She has also researched through concepts on how feminism is interpreted in contemporary circumstances for example through Emma Watson's UN speech. She uses a modern array of colors, often to express emotion and movement, leaning towards pieces that lead to expressionism. She focuses in conveying the fragility of feminine identity through mixed media and varying the transparency of layers built from the canvas.
She is also keen on pencil sketching in experimental techniques and plans to further her skills towards digital painting and water color in future pieces.
