Hot pinks, lime greens, blues, brown-olives and coral-reds distinguish the bright and often-clashing Peranakan colour palette as well as Carolyn’s intricate Kamcheng paintings. Prevalent, the immortal phoenix and the blooming peonies exude a femininity that inimitably exemplifies the particularly flamboyant and elaborate Peranakan style of decoration. Carolyn weaves these auspicious motifs into her Kamchengs/Ginger Jars, adorning them with extensive details and her trademark gold embellishments, in an attempt to ferry these household gems to propitious meaning.
